O. BOX 1810 - 1810 E. HAZELTON AVENUE
STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA 95201
(209) 468-3000 FAX (209) 468-2999
www.sjgov.org/pubworks
As we discussed, our investigation of the extent of the closure cap at the Corral Hollow Landfill has
revealed that refuse extends to the drainage ditch without closure cap on the northern point of the
landfill within the area of our present investigation. We therefore propose to expand the
investigation eastward along the drainage ditch, investigating in accordance with the approved
Phase 2 Investigation of Extent of Closure Cap, originally submitted January 2006 (see Figure 2,
attached). As you recall, our investigation along the road on the eastern side of the landfill was
restricted due to the presence of the active petroleum pipeline in the center of the road, and we did
not dig in the road to avoid the pipeline. No such constraint exists in the proposed new area of
investigation.
As we also discussed, the abandoned pipeline extends east of the eastern access road between
SB -1 and MW -4 (Figure 2), making impossible trenching perpendicular to the road to verify that
refuse has not been disposed east of the access road as originally proposed. We therefore plan to
dig parallel to and between the road and pipeline in this area. Please note that our investigations
have not found refuse east of the eastern access road at any location.
If you have no objections, we plan to resume our work on the site Monday, July 2, 2007. If you
have any questions,. please call me at (209) 468-8504.
Sincerely,
W.
