The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has received and reviewed the plans for Valverde Park Interactive Water Fountain and has the following conditions that need to be corrected prior to receiving EHD approval: 1. The water vault shall be a minimum of 4000 -gallon holding capacity. 2. The splash zone shall be sloped so that only water from the interactive water fountain flows back to the underground reservoir. Areas adjacent to the splash zone shall be sloped away from the interactive water fountain to deck drains or other surface water disposal systems in order to keep unwanted fertilizers, dirt, and contaminants from entering the reservoir. The plans show a concrete deck surface of approximately 10-15 feet surrounding the splash zone that slopes back into the fountain. The deck surface must slope away from the splash zone. 3. The filter pump and filter are undersized for this project. Due to the size of the underground reservoir tank (4000 gallons) and the requirement that the water in the tank be turned over (completely recirculated) at least once every 30 minutes, the pump and filter sizing must be changed to: Filter pump—at least a 2 H.P. Provide this Department with a cut sheet of the pump. Water turnover must be equal to or greater than 133 gpm. Filter—(2) sand filters needed at 4.91 sq. ft./each effective filtration area 4. A sign shall be placed at entrances to the fountain providing the following information: CHEMICALLY TREATED WATER – DO NOT DRINK 5. Provide this Department with a detail for the main drains proposed for use. This Department must verify that there will be no trip/cut hazard for the drain grates.
