LOGE 2126 Page 1

INTRODUCTION

Live Oak GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (Live Oak) was contracted by Eduardo Cuellar to
conduct a Nitrate Loading Study for his property located at 1245 and 1249 East Louise
Avenue, Lathrop, California. Two three-bedroom houses are currently located on the
Site.
According to Mr. Cuellar, when the second house was built, it was intended to be
connected to the municipal sewer system. Because the house instead utilizes an on-
site septic system, this study is being required by the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department.
Because of statewide concerns of nitrate leaching into ground water from septic
systems, a nitrate loading analysis was required by the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department for assessment of the existing development. The
study estimates the potential concentration of percolating effluent produced by septic
systems at the proposed project over the long term. Where percolating effluent leaches
into the ground, ground-water quality may be impacted to some degree should the
effluent reach the aquifer.
The formatting of the report has been designed to follow the recommendations of the
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department as described in its Nitrate
Loading Study Requirements Checklist.
Site Description
The Assessor’s Parcel Number (APN) for the Site is 196-500-05, approximately 1.31
acres in size. It is located at 1245 and 1249 East Louise Avenue, Lathrop, California
(Plate 1).
Two three-bedroom houses are currently located on the Site (Plate 2). Each house has
a septic system. The Site is connected to the municipal water supply.
