The report was received by the Board on 14 September 2000,
and was prepared in response to Waste Discharge Requirements Order No. 99-142. After reviewing
the workplan, I have the following comments:
The proposed well locations as presented in Figure 2 are too far from the pond. Well MW-1 is
approximately 475 feet from the pond; Well MW-2 is approximately 350 feet from the pond; and
Well MW-3 is approximately 185 feet from the pond. These distances are considered too great to
provide suitable monitoring of the wastewater pond. Please resubmit Figure 2. An appropriate
distance between wells and a wastewater pond is approximately 50 feet, slightly more for the
upgradient well.
Please provide a table that summarizes the following sample collection information:
A description of the size and type of sample containers.
Identification of any preservatives that will be used, including ice.
A statement of whether samples will be filtered or not.
A list of the holding times for each analysis method.
The workplan is approved on the condition that the above comments are addressed in an addendum
letter prepared by the professional responsible for the work. If you have any questions on this
conditional approval, please telephone me at (916) 255-3116.
TIMOTHY R.
