Trip blanks or travel controls are samples of organic free water supplied by the laboratory which
are prepared in 40 ml. VOA sample bottles at the same time and location as the preparation of the bottles
which are used for sampling. Trip blanks remain with the sample bottles while in transit to the sampling
locations, during sampling, and during the return trip to the laboratory. Trip blanks are not opened at
any time during these procedures. Upon return to the laboratory, the trip blank will be analyzed for EPA
601 constituents by the same procedures as field samples.
B.3.7 Ouality Control Duplicates
"Blind duplicate" samples will be collected from selected sampling locations at the same time and
in the same manner as the field sample from that location. These duplicate samples will be sent to the
laboratory for analyses along with the regular field samples. The duplicate samples will be labeled in
sequential order with non existent monitoring well designations. The duplicate serves as a check on the
precision of the sampling and analytical procedures.
B.3.8 Chain-of-Custody Procedures
Chain-of-custody records will be maintained for all groundwater samples collected during the field
investigation.
PROP06.005
B-7
DAMES Si_ MOORE
