Limited Phase II Environmental Site Assessment
United Storage
2115 West Washington Street
Stockton, California
Delta Project No. A002-124-1
Page 5
Ground water samples were submitted under proper chain-of-custody protocol to Kiff Analytical for the
following laboratory analyses:
• W-B2 VOCs, TPH-G
• W-B5 VOCs, TPH-G, TPH-D
• W-B7 VOCs, TPH-G, TPH-D
• W-B8 VOCs, TPH-G, TPH-D
• W-B10 VOCs, TPH-G, TPH-D
All samples were stored in an iced cooler immediately after collection and during transport. Following
completion of the soil boring and ground water sampling activities, the borings were sealed with neat
cement grout.
4.0 LIMITED PHASE ll ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENT RESULTS
4.1 Subject Property Geology and Hydrodeology
The results of the soil characterization indicate that site geology consists of intermittent layers of sands,
gravels, and clays. Bedrock was not encountered during this investigation. According to Ground Water
in the Central Valley, California — A Summary Report (United States Geological Survey Water Supply
Paper 1401-A), unconsolidated deposits in the Stockton area are approximately 2,000 to 3,000 feet thick.
Soil boring logs are presented in Appendix B.
Ground water was encountered in five of the ten soil borings at depths ranging from approximately 9 to
15 feet bgs. Conditions described as moist to wet were encountered during the advancement of B-1, B-3,
B-4, B-6, and B-9, but ground water did not accumulate in the boreholes. Ground water monitoring wells
were not installed during this investigation and therefore a ground water flow direction determination was
not made. However, ground water flow is likely to the northwest, toward the Stockton Deep Water
Channel.
4.2 Field Screening Results
The results of the soil screening indicated PID readings ranging from 0.2 to 483 ppmv. Headspace vapor
concentrations above 100 ppmv were recorded in borings B-1, B-2, B-4, B-5, B-6, B-8, and B-9, generally
at depths greater than 7 feet bgs. These results were considered indications of potential contamination
and the soil samples exhibiting the highest PID readings were submitted for laboratory analyses. Odors
and staining were not observed in any of the soil borings.
e:\westwayterminalco\a002124 \1-stockton, ca \docs \stockton phase ii report.doc
