ffl GEO-PHASE
ENVIRONMENTAL
WORK PLAN
Soil Boring Installation
2615 Waterloo Road
Stockton, CA
January 9, 2004
GPE Project No. 436.2
1.0 INTRODUCTION
The subject Property is a small commercial lot with a small, vacant commercial building
(see attached site map). Based on information obtained during the completion of a Phase
I ESA dated December 17, 2003, past uses of the Property included the operation of a
550-gallon underground gasoline tank between 1973 and 1975. The tank apparently is no
longer present, but there is no documentation to verify the disposition of the tank or to
show that the tank did not leak to impact the soil and groundwater.
This Work Plan outlines the procedures, protocols, and methods to be used to install and
sample a boring designed to investigate subsurface environmental conditions associated
with the former tank.
2.0 PROPOSED INVESTIGATION
The location of the former tank on the lot is not known. In order to assess whether it may
have leaked, the decision was made to collect a groundwater sample from a soil boring
(designated B-1) located in the down-gradient position. In this part of Stockton, the
groundwater surface lies about 55 feet below grade and flows toward the northeast. The
following steps will be completed in this assessment.
1. Use hollow stem auger drilling equipment to install one soil boring to a depth
sufficient to penetrate the groundwater surface (about 55 feet). The boring will be
2937 Veneman Ave., #B240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc. Phone (209) 569-0293
Modesto, CA 95356 Fax (209) 569-0295
