Table 1 lists the structures that were monitored during the
April 21, 1992 event. All structures along the boundary between
the landfill and the labor camp (17) were monitored for methane.
Each structure is divided in half, so the results in Table 1 are
reported as east or west half. In addition, each structure has a
built in venting system that exits through the roof. Three of the
vents were monitored for methane.
One labor camp monitoring event remains. However, the housing
units in the farm labor camp are currently occupied. The Housing
Authority has verbally declined access into the structures to
perform the final monitoring event. The County sent a letter to
the Housing Authority requesting permission to access the
structures by August 11, 1992 . The Housing Authority did not
responded to our written request. Therefore, the final monitoring
event for the labor camp structures was not performed.
ON-SITE STRUCTURE AND GAS PROBE MONITORING
On June 25, 1992, and August 11, 1992, the County performed probe
and on-site structure monitoring. The methane concentrations were
similar to those found in previous monitoring events. The results
are contained in Tables 2 and 3 .
, The following is an anticipated monitoring schedule to finish the
monthly monitoring required according to the letter from the
Environmental Health Division, dated December 19, 1991.
ANTICIPATED MONITORING SCHEDULE
Perform 5th probe monitoring event September 11, 1992
Perform final probe monitoring event October 11, 1992
Perform final labor camp event If and when access
is approved
This presents the Landfill Gas Monitoring Report for the Harney
Lane Sanitary Landfill.
5
