Don Layson, M.P.H. , Director
Environmental Health Division
FROM: W. J. Ward, Director
By: W. L. Cypher, Maintenance Superintendent . ;/''`
SUBJECT: HARNEY LANE DISPOSAL SITE
YOUR INSPECTION REPORT DATED 3-21-77
7
Due to minimum funds and maximum efficiencv.
the Harney Lane Land= is being o e wi ac.e uate but
minimum equipment to comply with Landfill regulations. One
AC'21 landfill bulldozer spreads and complacts refuse as it
is delivered to the site. The distributed ground pressure
of this tractor is adequate to obtain necessary density of
material.
One 9-cubic yard self-loading scraper is assigned
to the Landfill site to stockpile; cover material to be spread
by the bulldozer. A small rubber tire Ford tractor equipped with
a bulldozer blade is utilized for cleaning the refuse disposal
area.
A backup D6 bulldozer is maintained at the site to
temporarily spread and compact the refuse when the large tractor
is unavailable due to maintenance and breakdowns. When it appears
the large bulldozer is out of service for a period exceeding 3
days, a standard bulldozer is leased as its replacement.
Excluding breakdowns of equipment, the site is
being conducted in a manner to spread and compact refuse and to
cover with a 6 inch layer of dirt daily. Under normal operation
the refuse is being spread in a confined area suitable for cover
daily. An all-weather road to the face of the refuse discharge
point will be constructed prior to 9-15-77.
WLC:cz
