WEST WEBER INVESTIGATION
SCOPE OF WORK
4-9-13
• Approximately 24 borings to 3-feet depth for soil samples, and 6 additional borings to 15-feet depth for soil
and GW sampling(30 borings total). Plus up to 11 possible step-out borings to 15-feet depth for soil and
GW sampling pending field results. All borings will be continuously sampled using a hydraulic push probe
drill-rig with core barrel liners for each boring.
• The Contractor's drill rig must be cleaned prior to being brought to the site.
• As reported by the land Owner no utilities are known to exist on the property at the boring locations.
• USA underground utilities will be surveyed and results will be presented to the Contractor 72-hours prior to
site activities,per their request.
• PVC casings shall be used in groundwater sample boreholes to allow the collection of groundwater while
the drill rig is moved to the next boring location. It is anticipated that GW recovery rates will be very slow
—contractor suggestions for efficiently and effectively managing slow GW recharge are welcome. The
Contractor shall supply a pump for collection of the samples and the pump shall be decontaminated after
each sample collection prior to moving to the next borehole.
• Depth to groundwater is believed to be about 10 feet below ground surface and maximum depth of borings
is believed to be about 15 feet.
• The Contractor shall use decontaminated probe casings for each boring. To the extent driller can provide
multiple casings, the 3-foot borings may proceed quickly if decontamination stops are not required after
every boring. All used drilling materials must be decontaminated using Alconox or equivalent detergent
and potable water prior to re-use.
• Each borehole shall be backfilled with neat cement after sample collection.
• All water used for decontamination and all soil cuttings shall be containerized and disposed of by the
Contractor. Soil and GW must be differentiated, but materials from multiple borings may be combined-it
is estimated that 2 drums for water and 4 drums for soil will be required(6 total for project, but contractor
should have access to additional drums).
