INTRODUCTION <br /> The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has received an <br /> application to operate a Class I Underground Injection Con- <br /> trol (UIC) well from Victor Fine Foods of Lodi, California. <br /> In accordance with the regulations set forth in 40 CFR <br /> 124 . 17, EPA prepared a draft permit for the proposed ac- <br /> tivity. Notice of this draft permit and a request for <br /> public comment were published in the Lodi News-Sentinel on <br /> September 16th and September 18th, 1989. The public comment <br /> period extended from September 18, 1989 to November 2, 1989. <br /> During that time, written comments were received from four <br /> parties. In view of the substance and small number of com- <br /> ments, EPA chose to forgo the public hearing. Instead, a <br /> meeting was held in Lodi, California on Tuesday January 23 , <br /> 1990 to discuss the draft permit and the comments received <br /> on it with all interested parties. All parties who provided <br /> written comments on the draft permit were invited to this <br /> meeting. <br /> The Agency will issue a final permit to Victor Fine Foods on <br /> February 9, 1990. In accordance with 40 CFR 124 . 17, the <br /> Agency has prepared this document to respond to written com- <br /> ments received during the public comment period. <br />
