process and reduce the possibility of shock loadings. From
the equalization basin, waste water will be pumped to the
activated sludge system. The activated sludge system will
consist of an aeration basin and clarifier. Waste sludge
will be aerobically digested and dewatered in sludge drying
beds prior to final disposal. Sludge disposal must be ap-
proved by the CVRWQCB. From the activated sludge process,
waste water will be chemically treated with polymers, then
chlorinated and filtered through a sand filtration unit.
The filtered effluent will be commingled with the extracted
polluted groundwater in a clearwell prior to being fed into
the deep injection well.
3 . TDS LEVELS OF FORMATION FLUID
A TDS value for the formation water from the Domengine For-
mation at the proposed well site is not available at this
time. Some TDS values for the Domengine Formation from oil
field data range from approximately 18, 000 ppm to 24,000
Ppm-
No known water supply wells have been completed to depths
greater than about 810 feet in the general area of the well
site. The vast majority of the recorded domestic water
wells are less than 500 feet deep.
4 . NATURE OF INJECTION FLUID
The injection fluid is made up of three combined waste
streams: 1) process waste water, 2) miscellaneous brines
(also process waste water) , and 3) recovered ground water.
The Report of Waste Discharge (RWD) submitted to the
CVRWQCB described the characteristics of each of these
waste streams. The injection fluid is described as fol-
lows:
Constituents Process * * Ground Final Inj .
Wastewater Brines Water Fluid
------------ ---------- -------- ------- ----------
Flow(gpd) 107,000 1,000 144, 000 252, 000
TDS(ppm) 2, 132 135,000 2,530 2, 604
EC(umhos/cm) 2,978 178, 000 3,760 3,526
Chloride(ppm) 650 84, 150 1, 020 995
BOD(ppm) 820 10,230 - < 5
SS 379 525 - < 5
EC-Electrical Conductance; BOD-Biochemical Oxygen Demand
SS-Suspended Solids
*Characteristics before pretreatment
5
