M. Scott Mansholt - 2 - 8 May 2008
Chevron - US Can-Welty Ru-J
Regional Water Board staff has the following comments:
• Previously, by letter of 11 October 2007 we concurred that, since groundwater
elevations had dropped and had been below the screened levels for some time, MW-3,
4, and 5 could be destroyed-, however, it appears that groundwater has recovered
sufficiently to provide sufficient water for sampling of MW-3 and 4;
• We concur that MW-4 and 5 should be destroyed (approved in our 11 October 2007
letter) and we concur that MW-3 should not be destroyed at this time and that
groundwater monitoring and sampling should continue until an analytical trend is re-
established; and,
• The due date for the Additional Soil and Groundwater Investigation and Well
Destruction workplan was revised due to site access issues.
By 31 October 2008, please provide the results of the Soil and Groundwater Investigation and
the details of destruction for MW-4 and 5.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact Dean Hubbard at (559) 445-5179.
S
SHELTON R.
