M. Scott Mansholt - 2 - 26 June 2009
Chevron
US Can-Welty Road
Central Valley Water Board staff has the following comments:
• Prior to destroying the three monitoring wells, an additional sampling event should be
conducted by SAIC field staff in conjunction with Central Valley Water Board staff.
Central Valley Water Board staff will obtain/submit duplicate groundwater samples for
analysis.
• Historically, groundwater has declined to depths below well screen intervals and
frequently samples could not be collected. Prior to scheduling the sampling event,
depth to water measurements should be obtained to confirm that adequate water is
available.
• After reviewing available analytical results, Central Valley Water Board staff will re-
evaluate SAIC's proposal for well destruction.
By 31 July 2009, please provide a sampling schedule if it is confirmed that the wells contain
sufficient water.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact Dean Hubbard at (559) 445-5179.
SHELTON R.
