Called and spoke to Henry Fontes, Central Valley Waste Services
(CVWS) Route Manager, who confirmed the following information via phone: The
hydraulic oil released due to a loose hydraulic hose on a Waste Management
truck. The release was stopped. The release impacted the street asphalt only and
in four different areas on the street and in a nearby alley way. The spill did not
impact any storm drains. The truck driver applied absorbent powder to the spill,
swept up the used absorbent, and transported the absorbent to the CVWS facility
at 1333 E Turner Rd. Lodi, CA, where the waste was placed into a hazardous
waste drum. The used absorbent will be stored at this facility until disposal.
Discussed complaint with Melissa Nissim, CUPA Program Coordinator.
Henry provided photos of the spill areas containing absorbent and photos of the
spill areas once the absorbent was cleaned up.
