The work plan <br /> dated 9 October 2007, proposes to advance shallow and intermediate/deep soil borings to <br /> collect soil and groundwater samples beneath Pond 3. In addition, the work plan proposes to <br /> install up to 5 temporary piezometers within Pond 3. The proposed investigation will focus on <br /> whether there are elevated concentrations of chemicals associated with drilling and production <br /> fluids, whether Pond 3 might be a source of these chemicals, and to what extent this source <br /> has affected the surrounding area. <br /> Staff concurs with the proposed work plan with the addition of a soil sample in each boring be <br /> taken at 15 feet bgs or some depth in between the proposed sample locations of just below <br /> the pond bottom and 28 to 30 foot bgs sample.
