Evaluation of Hydrocarbons May 17, 1990
Waterfront Redevelopment, Stockton, California AGS 39048-2W
Each sample collected will be promptly sealed with aluminum foil, plastic caps, and duct
tape. The samples will be labeled and placed in iced storage for transport to the analytical
laboratory for testing. Chain of Custody Records will be initiated by the geologist in the
field and will accompany the samples to the laboratory. Copies of these records will be
presented in our report.
Cuttings generated during drilling will be stockpiled onsite in segregated piles on plastic
sheeting and will be covered with plastic. This soil will be segregated into stockpiles based
on OVM readings. Disposal of the soil will remain the responsibility of the City of
Stockton. Applied GeoSystems can arrange to have the soil treated, if necessary, or can
remove the soil to an appropriate disposal facility with the City of Stockton's authorization.
Monitoring Well Construction
Monitoring wells will be constructed in the 30-foot deep borings using 2-inch-inner-
diameter, thread jointed, Schedule 40 polyvinyl chloride (PVC) casing. No chemical
cements, glues, or solvents will be used in well construction. The slotted portion of each
well will consist of factory-perforated casing with 0.020-inch-wide slots. The well screen will
extend from total depth of the well to a point approximately 5 feet above first encountered
ground water. This interval will allow sampling of water near the air-water interface in the
wells, which is representative of the water in the formation during seasonal fluctuations of
11
A,nn/ied GeoSystems
