L & M OPERABLE UNIT-THIRD QUARTER 2014 SITE STATUS, REMEDIAL SUMMARY,
AND GROUNDWATER MONITORING REPORT
Groundwater Monitoring and Sampling
October 31, 2014
2.0 Groundwater Monitoring and Sampling
2.1 GROUNDWATER MONITORING AND SAMPLING PROCEDURES
Quarterly groundwater monitoring of 15 shallow wells (A-Zone) (MW-9, 2AMW-12,
2AMW-13, 2AMW-14, MW-18 through MW-23, MW-25, MW-28, MW-31, MW-34, and
MW-45), 16 B-Zone wells (MW-16, MW-17, MW-24, MW-26, MW-27, MW-35, MW-42,
MW-44, MW-46, MW-51, MW-52, and MW-56 through MW-60), eight C-Zone wells
(MW-54, and MW-61 through MW-67), and eight D-Zone wells (MW-55, and MW-68
through MW-74), was performed by Stantec on July 7, 2014. Quarterly groundwater
sampling of 12 shallow wells (MW-9, 2AMW-12, MW-18, MW-20 through MW-23, MW-25,
MW-28, MW-31, MW-34, and MW-45), 13 B-Zone wells (MW-16, MW-24, MW-26, MW-27,
MW-35, MW-42, MW-44, MW-51, MW-56, MW-57, and MW-58 through MW-60), eight
C-Zone wells (MW-54, and MW-61 through MW-67), and eight D-Zone wells (MW-55 and
MW-68 through MW-74), were performed by Stantec between July 7 and 10, 2014.
Groundwater monitoring and sampling activities were performed as required by
monitoring and reporting program (MRP) No. R5-2012-0805 (Appendix A, Table 1).
The City of Stockton is responsible for monitoring and sampling at the portion of the
South Shore Parcels identified as the MOU and the UOU. Five shallow wells, MW-3,
MW-7, 2AMW-15, MW-37, and MW-38 are located in the MOU and UOU and are
gauged by Wallace-Kuhl, on behalf of the City of Stockton, and under a separate MRP.
These wells have not been sampled since April 21, 2008. Stantec's groundwater
monitoring and sampling activities are to be coordinated concurrently with Wallace-
Kuhl.
2.2 LABORATORY ANALYSIS
Stantec's standard operating procedures for groundwater monitoring and sampling are
included as Appendix C. Collected groundwater samples were submitted under
chain-of-custody (COC) documentation to Kiff Analytical, a state certified laboratory
located in Davis, California and were analyzed for the following:
• TPHd and TPHo by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Method 8015M
• TPHg; benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (collectively BTEX); and
fuel oxygenates (MTBE and TBA) by EPA Method 8260B
• Dissolved arsenic by EPA Method 6010B (A-Zone wells only)
Monitoring well construction details are included on Table 2. Groundwater elevation
and analytical data are presented in Table 3 and Table 4. Historical analytical data is
Stantec 2.3
