L & M OPERABLE UNIT-THIRD QUARTER 2014 SITE STATUS, REMEDIAL SUMMARY,
AND GROUNDWATER MONITORING REPORT
Groundwater Monitoring and Sampling
October 31, 2014
throughout the shallow zone, and based on historical data the plume appears to
be stable.
2.7.2 Deep Zone
The following sections summarize trends for detected petroleum hydrocarbons, fuel
oxygenates, and observed SPH for deeper (B-, C-, and D-Zone) groundwater beneath
the Site.
2.7.2.1 SPH
A summary of 3Q14 SPH thickness and SPH sheen in comparison to the 2Q14 is provided
in the following table.
Well Identification SPH Thickness SPH Thickness Difference
(Zone) 2Q14 (Feet) 3Q14 (Feet) (Feet)
MW-17 B Sheen Sheen NA
MW-43 B 0.34 ** NA
MW-46 B Sheen Sheen NA
MW-47 B Sheen ** NA
MW-48 B Sheen ** NA
MW-49 B 5.33 ** NA
MW-50 B 8.67 ** NA
MW-52 B Sheen ** NA
Definitions:
B = B-Zone wells
** = Well not gauged/sampled due to skimmer in well
NA = Not applicable/not available
SPH = Separate phase hydrocarbon
SPH removal activities were conducted quarterly (at a minimum) for on- and off-Site
wells which repeatedly contain measurable thickness of SPH or sheen. It should be
noted that these SPH removal activities were typically performed between quarterly
monitoring events (as noted on the table), and may have influenced reported SPH
thickness. SPH removal activities did not take place for deep zone wells in the
Waterfront Towers parking facility during 3Q14 as described above in Section 2.7.1 .1 .
There are currently no deep zone wells on- or off-Site that are not connected to a free
product removal system that have measurable SPH. For those wells with light sheen
observed, Stantec is currently executing the use of Soakies ®socks where necessary.
5ta ntec 2.16
