GENESIS ENGINEERING& REDEVELOPMENT <br /> Reduction Area. In the Contamination Reduction Area,wash tubs with soap and water and rinse <br /> tubs will be provided for the cleaning of personnel and reusable equipment, and drums will be <br /> provided for contaminated PPE. Secondary decontamination will take place at portable hand <br /> washing facilities in the Support Area. All personnel will be required to wash their hands before <br /> eating and after work. <br /> Solid waste(disposable sampling equipment and used PPE) and liquid waste(decontamination <br /> wastewater and purged groundwater)will be placed in properly labeled containers as these <br /> wastes are generated. The wastes will be managed based on the analytical results or generator <br /> knowledge. <br /> Personnel decontamination procedures should be performed in the following sequence: <br /> • If gross contamination is obvious,physically remove contamination by brushing, <br /> scraping, etc.,prior to leaving the Exclusion Area <br /> • Transfer the equipment to the Contamination Reduction Area for subsequent <br /> chemical decontamination or disposal <br /> • In the Contamination Reduction Area,remove any outer disposable PPE and <br /> discard into the appropriate disposal drum <br /> • In the Contamination Reduction Area, scrub chemical-resistant boots and gloves <br /> with detergent and water followed by water rinse <br /> • In the Contamination Reduction Area,remove respirator and avoid touching face <br /> • In the Support Area thoroughly wash hands and face <br /> 10.0 GENERAL SAFE WORK PRACTICES <br /> Field activities will be conducted following the minimum safety practices described below. <br /> 10.1 Safe Work Practices <br /> • Eating, drinking, chewing gum or tobacco, smoking, or any practice that increases <br /> the probability of hand-to-mouth transfer and ingestion of materials is prohibited <br /> in any area where the potential of contamination exists <br /> Health and Safety Plan 12 of 16 <br /> DePaoli Property <br /> November 14,2007 <br />
