SAIC
November 14,2012
John Yoakum
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
Site Mitigation Program
1868 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton,California 95205
Subject: Boring Permit Application,Ahem Road—Vernalis, San Joaquin County,CA
Dear Mr.Yoakum:
SAIC Energy,Environment and Infrastructure,LLC(SAIL)is submitting the attached boring
permit application and supporting documentation for the advancement of three step-out soil
borings at the Ahern Road—Vernalis site in Vernalis,California. The investigation is being
conducted on behalf of Chevron Environmental Management Company(CEMC).
The proposed investigation is a continuation of fieldwork conducted during September 2012(see
the attached permit for reference). SAIC advanced the originally proposed borings(SB-4, S13-5,
and S13-6 on the attached figure),but failed to achieve lateral delineation of affected soil and
groundwater. SAIC will advance three additional borings(D,E&F)as part of the step-out
investigation. SAIC would like to reserve the right to advance additional step-out borings under
this permit,dependent on analytical results.
The soil and groundwater investigation fieldwork has been tentatively scheduled for the week of
December 3,2012. SAIC will confirm field dates with SJCEHD at least 48-hours prior to the
initiation of fieldwork. Please contact me by phone(510-825-8519)or e-mail
( ehg lkesnasaic.com),if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
SAIC Energy,Environment& Infrastructure, LLC
Sean Gehlke
Project Geologist
Enclosures:
Well Permit Application
LCD&MFR Forms
Location Map
Previously Approved Permit,Issued 8/13/2012
SAIC Energy,Environment&Infrastructure,LLC
1000 Broadway I Suite#675 1 Oakland,CA 9460711 tel:(510)466-7100 1 fax:(510)446-7919 1 saic.com\eeandi
