Mr. M. Scott Mansholt–CEMC
First Quarter 2007 Groundwater Monitoring and Sampling Report April 24,2007
Vernalis Pump Station Page 5 of 5
fluctuated between non-detect levels to 930 jig/L; the current concentrations appear stable within the
range of fluctuation. PAHs remained stable at low concentrations. These constituents have been
monitored since 1998 and SPO has been observed in well MW-1 since 1998.
The site consists of two properties: the Bellini and Arcos properties. Investigative activities on these
properties are essentially complete. Hydraulically down gradient of the former pump station is the
Bogetti property, where additional groundwater investigation is required. As of the second quarter of
2007, the Bogetti property is a separate sitereferred to as Vernalis Offsite—as accepted by the RWQCB
in a letter dated February, 13, 2007.
SAIC will continue quarterly monitoring at the site as recommended in the RWQCB letter dated
September 20,2006. The oleophilic sock in well MW-1 will be monitored quarterly and replaced as
necessary. SAIC recommends over-purging SPO and then collecting a sample from well MW-1. MW-I
has contained a sheen since 2005; over-purging may remove the residual hydrocarbons desorbing from
the soil surrounding the well.
CLOSING
If you have any questions regarding this report, please call Chris Dennis at(916) 979-3866.
Sincerely,
SCIENCE APPLICATIONS INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION
O
Daniel Anze on 0 Christopher B.
