The analysis included general water quality parameters and
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).
The results of these analyses indicates that the domestic wells around the landfill
appear to be free of VOCs or other indications of landfill impact (Table 1). Complete
analytical results have been transmitted previously.
At your request, the County requested a search by the California Department of Water
Resources of those domestic wells surrounding the landfill. This search yielded
information relating to the supply well within the labor housing facility (attached), but for
none of the other four wells of interest. The data available from the migrant labor
housing facility does not allow correlation between the data collected at that well and
data collected at the groundwater migration monitoring wells. Such a correlation would
be important if the County was proposing using the domestic wells as groundwater
monitoring wells, but this use of the domestic wells is not contemplated at this time. No
further analysis of the domestic wells is planned having established that these wells are
not impacted with VOCs.
We are proceeding with the installation of four additional landfill gas extraction wells at
the landfill (Figure 2). To that end, we have submitted an application for that work to the
San Joaquin County Department of Environmental Health and have engaged SCS Field
Services for this work. It is our intent that these wells are installed and operational by
December 1, 2009.
