These compounds (Dichlorodifluoromethane,
1, 2 Dichloropropane, and Tetrachloroethene (PCE))were detected consistently since 2004. The
other three monitoring wells indicate no impact.
In early 2007 1 proposed the installation of two additional LFG wells near MW-2 to increase the
effectiveness of the landfill gas system. At that time, it appeared that mitigation was not proceeding
with sufficient speed. However, since then two of the three compounds are no longer detected.
1, 2 Dichloropropane has not been detected since April 2007, and Dichlorodifluoromethane has not
been detected in the last two quarters. Removal of two of the three compounds indicates that the
LFG system may be successfully mitigating the groundwater impact, and cause me to question the
need for additional LFG wells.
In discussing this new information, you and I agreed that the new LFG wells at the Harney Lane
Landfill can be postponed until at least the results of the next two quarters' data is received. We will
re-evaluate the need for additional LFG wells at that time.
Thank you for your help in this. If you have any questions, please call me at (209) 468-8504.
Sincerely,
W.
