k`! KLEINFELDER
The soil samples retained for laboratory analysis were collected from the 10 feet bgs and 15 feet
bgs. The soil samples were analyzed for the following:
• Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g) by EPA Method 8015M
• Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Xylene (BTEX) by EPA Method 8015M/8020
• Oxygenates by EPA Method 8260
• Methanol using Industrial Solvent Scan by EPA Method 8015M
• Total Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons (Fuel Fingerprint) by EPA Method 8015M
*The samples were analyzed on a standard analytical turnaround requiring approximately 10
working days for analysis.
4.4.2 Groundwater Sampling and Analvsis
A total of 3 groundwater samples were collected on May 28, 2002. The groundwater samples were
collected from monitoring wells MW -1, MW -2, and MW -3 (Plate 2). The depth to groundwater
was measured in each monitoring well prior to purging and sampling. The volume of water
present in each monitoring well was calculated. A minimum of three well casing volumes was
purged from each monitoring well using disposable Teflon bailers. Groundwater field
parameters such as pH, electrical conductance, and temperature were recorded while purging to
establish stable conditions. Groundwater purge and sample logs are found in Appendix D.
The depths to groundwater data were converted to elevations in reference to a common datum, as
discussed in Section 4.3, to calculate a groundwater direction flow and gradient for the site.
The groundwater samples were analyzed for the following:
• Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g) by EPA Method 8015M
• Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Xylene (BTEX) by EPA Method 8015M/8020
• Oxygenates by EPA Method 8260
• Methanol using Industrial Solvent Scan by EPA Method 8015M
• Total Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons (Fuel Fingerprint) by EPA Method 8015M
*The samples were analyzed on an expedited analytical turnaround requiring 5-7 working
days for analysis.
Purge water from the monitoring wells was contained in 55 -gallon drums pending the laboratory
analysis of the groundwater samples..
20-3978-03.CHEV / ST02R1 I 1 Page 9 of 18
Copyright 2002, Kleinfelder, Inc.
