A series of 17 direct push soil borings
were advanced, and a total of 17 soil and 3 groundwater samples were submitted for analysis of
petroleum hydrocarbon constituents. Results of these analyses evidence one area of concern.
The soil sample collected at 10.5 feet below surface grade (bsg) from boring P-6, located near
the north-eastern hydraulic lift in the service department, was contaminated with 13,000 parts-
per-million (ppm) total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHd) and 16,000 ppm TPH as motor
oil. The water sample collected at 18 feet bsg from the same boring had 2,300 parts-per-billion
(ppb) TPHd and 3,300 ppb TPHmo.
Please be advised that a "Notification of Hazardous Waste Discharge" has been made pursuant
to Health & Safety Code 25180, and the site has been listed on the PHS/EHD contaminated site
database.
It is the recommendation of AGE that further investigation be performed in the area of the
hydraulic lift located adjacent to boring P-6. PHS/EHD concurs with this recommendation. As the
Responsible Party for the referenced site you may contact the Central Valley Regional Water
Quality Control Board for oversight of the investigation, or continue to investigate the
contamination with PHS/EHD oversight under the current fee-for-service basis. This would result
in entering into a remedial action agreement with PHS/EHD, as specified in Section 101480 of the
Health and Safety Code(copy enclosed).
If you have any questions or comments please call Lori Duncan at 209-468-0337.
Donna Heran, RENS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Lori Duncan, REHS Margaret Lagorio, REHS
Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor, Unit IV
enc.
cc: Gary Dickenson, AGE (without enclosure)
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
