Advanced
GeoEnvironmental, Inc. --
21 July 2003
AGE-NC Project No. 03-1063
Ms. Lori Duncan
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DEPARTMENT
304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor
Stockton, CA 95201
Subject: Monitoring Well Abandonment Work Plan
Former TRADEWAY CHEVROLET
1460 East Yosemite Avenue, Manteca, California
Dear Ms. Duncan:
At the request of Mr. Bill Filious of AKF Development,Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc. (AGE)
has prepared the enclosed work plan for the abandonment of three ground water monitoring wells
at 1460 East Yosemite Avenue, Manteca, California.
Also enclosed is a well destruction permit and the associated permit fee.Abandonment procedures
will be scheduled upon approval of this work plan.
INTRODUCTIONBACKGROUND
It is our understanding that three two-inch diameter ground water monitoring wells(MW-1 through
MW-3) are located at the site and were part of a subsurface investigation. Each well was installed
to a depth of approximately 30 feet below surface grade(bsg). The wells were installed using 8-inch
diameter hollow stem augers.
PROCEDURES
Each well cover box will be removed and the well will be subsequently over-drilled to a depth of
approximately 3 feet bsg utilizing a truck-mounted drill rig equipped with 12-inch diameter hollow
stem augers. Each well will then be pressure-grouted; pressure (15-20 psi) will be applied to each
well for approximately three minutes to ensure grout penetration into the filter pack. The top three
feet will then be backfilled with neat cement.
837 Shaw Road,Stockton, California 95215
Telephone (209)467-1006 FAX(209)467-1118
