A exclusion zone will be <br /> established approximately 10 feet around boring location work areas. No unauthorized person shall <br /> be allowed within this exclusion area. <br /> 4.0. HAZARD EVALUATION <br /> The following substance(s) or hazards are known or suspected to be on site. <br /> SUBSTANCES INVOLVED: CONCENTRATIONS: <br /> Benzene Unknown <br /> Toluene Unknown <br /> Ethylbenzene Unknown <br /> Total xylenes Unknown <br /> Diesel Unknown <br /> Gasoline Unknown <br /> The primary hazards of each are identified as follows: <br /> 1. Hydrocarbon fuels - Components of fuels are colorless liquids with strong aromatic <br /> petroleum hydrocarbon-like odors. They are flammable and have low solubility in water. <br /> Exposure to these materials in excess of recommended exposure limits can cause mild eye, <br /> nose, and throat irritation and can produce a narcotic effect on the central nervous system. <br /> Symptoms of exposure at these concentrations include headache, nausea, drowsiness, <br /> dizziness, and loss of coordination. Certain components of gasoline (BTEX etc.) are known <br /> or suspected carcinogens. <br /> The additional potential hazards include: Slip-trip-fall hazards, noise, heavy equipment <br /> (i.e., Geoprobe rig), vibration hazards, traffic hazards, etc. <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc. <br />
