I. NORCAL GEOPHYSICAL
CONSULTANTS, INC.
December 10, 2003
Mr. Joe Zilles
Kleinfelder
2825 E. Myrtle Street
Stockton, CA 95205
Subject: Geophysical Survey - UST search
20696 S. Manteca Road
Manteca, California
Dear Mr. Zilles:
This letter presents the findings of a geophysical investigation performed by NORCAL Geophysical
Consultants, Inc. at the subject location. The survey was conducted for Kleinfelder, Inc. on
November 19, 2003 by NORCAL Geophysicist, Dan Jones and Geophysical Technician, Travis
Black. Site coordination was provided by Mr. Joe Zilles with Kleinfelder.
PURPOSE
The subject site is a former fertilizer distribution facility. It is our understanding that there was at
least one underground storage tank (UST) on the property. It is unknown if any or all USTs were
removed. Therefore, the purpose of the geophysical survey was to acquire subsurface information
to aid in determining if USTs are present.
SITE DESCRIPTION
The site is located in Manteca, California on the east side of South Manteca Road, south of
Woodward Road. A map of the site is presented as the Geophysical Survey Map, Plate 1. The
investigation area was designated by Kleinfelder to include the portion of the site on the west side
of the workshop building (dashed line). There is a reinforced concrete apron along the west side of
the building, extending approximately 20 feet out from the wall. A concrete patch is located within
this apron, southwest of a hose bib and reel along the wall. There is also a storm drain drop inlet
west of the concrete apron. Metal debris is located at the north end of the apron. A majority of the
site is clear of surface obstructions and aside from the reinforced concrete apron, is asphalt-covered.
North of the site is an open dirt covered lot currently undergoing development. South of the area is
a residence separated from the site by a hedgerow. East of the area, Manteca Road trends north-
south.
1350 INDUSTRIAL AVENUE, SUITE A • PETALU MA, CA 94952 • TELEPHONE (707) 763-1312 • FAX (707) 762-5587
www.norcalgeophysical.com
