AGE-NC Project No. 99-0559
mg/kg total xylene (benzene was at 25 mg/kg). MTBE was detected at a concentration of
820 micrograms per kilogram (pg/kg). The sample collected from 110 feet (CPT2-110 —
upper HU5) contained TPH-g at 4.9 mg/kg; BTEX compounds were detected in at
concentrations as high as 0.53 mg/kg total toluene (benzene was at 0.18 mg/kg). MTBE
was detected at a concentration of 30 pg/kg. The sample collected from 135 feet (CPT2-
135 — middle HU5) contained TPH-g at 2.4 mg/kg; BTEX compounds were detected in at
concentrations as high as 0.51 mg/kg toluene (benzene was at 0.16 mg/kg). MTBE was
detected at a concentration of 16 pg/kg.
ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUNDWATER SAMPLES: APRIL 2001
A total of eleven groundwater samples were collected from HU1, HU2, HU4, Upper HU5
and Lower HU5 and submitted for laboratory analysis.
HU1
Samples CPT1-60 and CPT3-60 were collected from HU1, the upper most occurrence of
groundwater from the CPTs. TPH-g and BTEX compounds were not detected in samples.
However, the fuel additive MTBE was detected in CPT1-60 and CPT3-60 at a maximum
concentration of 17,000 pg/I (CPT3-60).
HU4
Samples CPT1-100, CPT1-100 and CPT3-100 were collected from HU4, the most
pronounced flow unit defined at the site. TPH-g was detected in samples CPT1-70 and
CPT2-100 at concentrations of 6,700 pg/I and 710 pg/I, respectively. The BTEX
compounds were detected in samples CPT1-100 at concentrations of 1,100 pg/I, 89 pg/I,
410 pg/I and 900 pg/I, respectively. The BTEX compounds were detected in samples
CPT2-100 at concentrations of 100 pg/I, 120 pg/I, 10 pg/I and 47 pg/I, respectively. The
fuel additive MTBE was detected in CPT1-100, CPT2-100 and CPT3-100 at a maximum
concentration of 870 pg/I (CPT3-100);
HU5 upper
Samples CPT1-130, CPT2-130 and CPT3-130 were collected from the upper portion of
HU5. TPH-g was detected in sample CPT1-130 at a concentration of 4,700 pg/I. The BTEX
compounds were detected in samples CPT1-130 at concentrations of 94 pg/I, 570 pg/I, 110
pg/I and 540 pg/I, respectively. The BTEX compound toluene and xylenes were detected
in samples CPT3-130 at concentrations of 0.59 pg/I and 2.4 pg/I, respectively. The fuel
additive MTBE was detected in samples CPT1-130 and CPT3-130 at a maximum
concentration of 1,100 pg/I (CPT1-130).
Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc.
