kg KLEINFELDER
2 SITE SETTING
2.1 SITE LOCATION
The site is located on approximately 101 acres located in Section 3, T3S, R5E (Mount Diablo
Baseline & Meridian), in San Joaquin County. The site Assessors Parcel Numbers (APN's) are
248-070-02, -11, -12, -13, and -14; and 248-090-03, and -04. The site is relatively flat with an
average ground surface elevation of approximately 125 feet above mean sea level (MSL).
2.2 CURRENT USE AND SITE CHARACTERISTICS
According to the RWQCB WDR Order No. 5-00-226, the site has historically been planted with
apricots and walnuts. The subdivision is planned to have 83 lots and will be equipped with a
package treatment plant for its wastewater. Treated wastewater will be discharged to subsurface
computer controlled emitters. Ownership and operation of the wastewater and disposal system
has been transferred to the San Joaquin County Department of Public Works.
Treatment of the wastewater at the treatment facility will consist of a complete mix,
nitrification/dentrification, and modified batch process. Disinfection is accomplished using
ozone injection. The package treatment plant will be located near the southeast corner of the
subdivision. The leachfield is located along the southern edge of the subdivision (lots 65 to 82).
Kleinfelder understands that four monitoring wells, including MW-1, have already been installed
at the site. Groundwater is anticipated at approximately 65 feet below ground surface (bgs).
All four monitoring wells have incurred some damage during construction activities at the site,
however, it appears only MW-1 has been damaged enough to require replacement.
2.3 REGIONAL GEOLOGY AND HYDROGEOLOGY
The site lies within the Great Valley Geomorphic Province of California. The valley is
approximately 400 miles long and averages about 50 miles wide, and comprises about 20,000
square miles. The valley has been filled with a thick sequence of marine and non-marine
sediments from the late Jurassic to Holocene. The uppermost strata of the Great Valley
represents, for the most part, the alluvial, flood, and delta plains of two major rivers (Sacramento
and San Joaquin Rivers) and their tributaries.
The valley deposits are derived from the Coast Ranges to the west and the Sierra Nevada to the
east. Granitic and metamorphic rocks outcrop along the eastern and southeastern flanks of the
valley. Marine sedimentary rocks outcrop along most of the western, southwestern, southern,
24134.E01 / STO3R304 Page 2 of 10
Copyright 2003, Kleinfelder, Inc. February 26, 2003
