18 May 2017 AdvancedGeo
AGE Project No. 09-1773 Environmental
Page 2 of 6
2.1. PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
Applicable site assessment permits will be obtained from the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD) and encroachment permit will be obtained
through San Joaquin County Public Works Department. In addition, a health and safety
plan will be updated in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Guidance
Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational Safety
and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency,
1985). Prior to mobilization, each proposed boring location will be clearly marked and a
utility clearance obtained through Underground Service Alert.
2.2. SOIL BORING ADVANCEMENT
One shallow pilot soil boring will be advanced north and downgradient of the site utilizing
a truck or track mounted drilling rig equipped with 8-inch hollow stem augers (Figure 3).
The soil boring will be advanced to a depth of 25 below surface grade (bsg) for soil sample
collection and installation of a shallow-screen monitoring well.
Soil samples will be collected at five-foot intervals between 5 and 25 feet bsg. However,
field personnel may adjust the frequency and method of sampling in consultation with an
AGE Professional Geologist.
Selected soil samples will be analyzed for:
Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) by EPA method
8015B;
Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX) by EPA method 8260B;
Fuel additives methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE), tertiary amyl methyl ether
(TAME), diisopropyl ether (DIPE), tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA) and ethyl tertiary
butyl ether (ETBE); and
Lead scavengers 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) and ethylene dibromide (EDB).
Laboratory reports for groundwater analysis, testing methods and laboratory quality
assurance/quality control (QA/QC), and sample chain of custody documentation will be
presented in a report with findings and recommendations.
2.3 MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION
One additional shallow-screened well is proposed for installation during the proposed
assessment activities. The well will be installed on the south side of Elmwood Avenue,
approximately 145 feet west of Franklin Avenue. The final completion of the well
