BPSOU Job Hazard Analysis <br />Page 5 of 10 <br />GW Sampling Continued • Wear layered and appropriate <br />clothing to stay warm (use vehicle <br />and heater if necessary). <br />Use sunscreen to prevent sunburn <br />and lip balm to prevent chapped lips. <br />Use proper lifting posture when <br />opening/closing all well covers. <br />Wear leather gloves and safety <br />glasses when opening and closing <br />well covers and caps, tapping bolts. <br />Check for poisonous spiders, insects, <br />etc. <br />Stand upwind of well when removing <br />cover. <br />Ensure well is securely closed after <br />sampling. <br />Perform careful triple-rinse <br />decontamination of sounder or <br />interface meter. <br />Wear Nitrile gloves when handling <br />water. <br />Be careful not to splash or spill large <br />amounts of water on clothing or on <br />the Site. <br />Keep hands clear of well opening <br />when inserting bailer or pump tubing. <br />Replace peristaltic pump silicon and <br />polyethylene tubing with new at each <br />well location <br />Inspect the integrity of liquid <br />containers prior to and during use. <br />Carefully pour liquids when <br />transferring between containers. <br />Avoid spills when filling sample <br />bottles, and handle with care to avoid <br />breakage. <br />Ensure bottles are labeled accurately. <br />Maintain good housekeeping.
