August 2017
AGE-NC Project No. 97-0301
3.0. ON-SITE CONTROL
Timothy J. Cuellar has been designated to coordinate access control and security onsite. A safe
perimeter has been established at 10 feet around boring/excavation. No unauthorized person
should be within this exclusion area.
4.0. HAZARD EVALUATION
The following substance(s) or hazards are known or suspected to be on site.
SUBSTANCES INVOLVED: CONCENTRATIONS:
Gasoline 8,900 milligrams per kilogram
Diesel 9,000 milligrams per kilogram
Benzene 0.11 milligrams per kilogram
Toluene 130 milligrams per kilogram
Ethylbenzene 110 milligrams per kilogram
Xylenes 520 milligrams per kilogram
Methyl tertiary Butyl Ether 0.012 milligrams per kilogram
The primary hazards of each are identified as follows:
1. Hydrocarbon fuels - Components of fuels are colorless liquids with strong aromatic
petroleum hydrocarbon-like odors. They are flammable and have low solubility in water.
Exposure to these materials in excess of recommended exposure limits can cause mild eye,
nose, and throat irritation and can produce a narcotic effect on the central nervous system.
Symptoms of exposure at these concentrations include headache, nausea, drowsiness,
dizziness, and loss of coordination. Certain components of gasoline (BTE&X etc.) are known
or suspected carcinogens.
The following additional hazards are expected on site: typical work related to facility. Noise, falling
rods, flying hammer, snapped cables, etc. on the backhoe/excavator (if applicable).
Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc.
