The project includes partial
demolition of all existing facilities and equipment, a new fish screen and fish diversion
screens, a new pneumatically operated crest gate and modifying the existing Bellota weir,
and a new fishway. As part of this project, a geotechnical subsurface exploration program
consisting of nine mud-rotary boring to the depth of 70 feet will be carried out on the north
and south side of the weir.
Work-plan:
Nine geotechnical soil borings using mud-rotary method will be carried out to a depth of
70 feet. The bore-hole diameter will be four inches. Representative samples will be
obtained at various depths to carry out geotechnical laboratory tests and characterize the
sub-surface. No environmental testing will be carried out. After completion of boring, the
hole will be grouted using neat cement grout (1 bag (94 lbs.) Portland Cement to 5 to 10
gallons of potable water) using tremie method and the surface will be restored back to
original condition.
Exploration Location:
The location details (Latitude, Longitude and APNs)for each exploration location is
outlined in the Table below. Exploration location map is attached along with the filled out
permit applications. The boring locations are marked and labeled in the map. Please note
the mud-rotary borings are denoted by HDR-B # in the table below and the exploration
location map.
