(Agricultural Buildings are allowed to be constructed to Risk Category I, whereas other occupancies required Risk Category II or Ill.) Modifications to existing buildings are required to include upgrades related to disability access pursuant to the current adopted California Building and Existing Building Code. Plans showing these upgrades must be prepared by a registered engineer or licensed architect and shall be submitted for review and approval prior to issuance of a building permit. 5. If high piled combustible storage is to be used in a building, an automatic fire sprinkler system will be required. 6. Accessible routes shall be provided per CBC § 11 B-206. At least 1 accessible route shall be provided within the site from accessible parking spaces and accessible passenger loading zones; public streets and sidewalks; and public transportation stops to the accessible building or facility entrance they serve. Where more than 1 route is provided, all routes must be accessible. At least one accessible route shall connect accessible buildings, accessible facilities, accessible elements, and accessible spaces that are on the same site. 7. Parking spaces will be required to accommodate persons with disabilities in compliance with Chapter 11 B of the California Building Code. Note that accessible parking spaces are required for each phase of the project. These parking space(s) shall be located as close as possible to the primary entrance to the building. 8. Adequate sanitary facilities shall be provided for the facility, per the requirements of Chapter 4 of the California Plumbing Code. Pursuant to Section 422 of the California Plumbing Code, each building or structure shall be provided with toilet facilities for employees and customers. Requirements for customers and employees shall be permitted to be met with a single set of restrooms accessible to both groups. Required toilet facilities for employees and customers in other than shopping malls or centers shall have a maximum travel distance not to exceed 500 feet. The plans shall indicate the location of the toilet facilities and the travel distance from work areas. 9. If the project includes landscaping, the requirements of with the Model Water Efficiency Landscape Ordinance of the California Code of regulations, Title 22, Division 2, Chapter 2. 7 will apply. 2.
