3.2 PERSONNEL TRAINING <br />3.2.1 General Site Employees <br />Site employees shall participate in a project orientation prior to starting the <br />project. The orientation will include training on all elements of the HSP, as <br />presented herein. Site workers will be required to have received project -specific <br />Health & Safety training in accordance with aforementioned CCR Title 8 <br />mandates. <br />In addition, at a minimum, site personnel will have successfully completed a our, and annual 8 -hour refresher course in health and safety for hazardous <br />waste site operations in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.120 [Title 8 CCR 5192] and <br />respirator fit testing. On-site management and supervisors directly responsible <br />for, or who supervise employees engaged in, hazardous waste operations shall <br />have completed at least eight additional hours of specialized hazardous waste <br />operations management training at the time of job assignment on such topics as, <br />but not limited to, the employer's safety and health program and the associated <br />employee training program, PPE program, spill containment program, and <br />health hazard monitoring procedure and techniques as specified in 8 CCR <br />5192(e)(4). <br />"Tailgate" Meetings <br />During the active field components of the project, the Project Manager or <br />designee will conduct regular (i.e., weekly or daily, as appropriate) "tailgate" <br />safety meetings. This meeting will include information on the following subjects, <br />as applicable: <br />• Changes to project scope and/or site conditions; <br />• Review of safe work practices; <br />• On or off the project safety practi <br />ces; <br />• Feedback from employees on hazards, safety suggestions, or concerns; <br />and <br />• Recogniti <br />on for compliance, good safety performance or attitude. <br />Attendance at the tailgate meetings is considered a part of each employee's job <br />responsibilities. <br />3.3 MEDICAL SURVEILLANCE <br />At minimum, project personnel who will be involved with on-site field activities <br />are advised to be in excellent physical condition and free of cardio -pulmonary <br />impairment.
