If the heavy equipment makes contact with <br />electrical wires, it may or may not be insulated from the ground by the tires <br />of the carrier. Under either circumstance, the human body, if it <br />simultaneously comes in contact with the equipment and the ground, will <br />provide a conductor of the electricity to the ground. <br />Controls : Demarcate all trenching locati <br />ons, first. Contact Dig Alert (811) 2- <br />14 days prior to work and review as -built plans before performing any <br />excavation activity. It is advised that a private utility locator be contacted to <br />supplement Dig Alert's demarcations, especially when the project is on <br />private property. Soil intrusive work shall not proceed until all locating <br />activities have been completed and fully documented in the site records. The <br />initial site safety orientation meeting for all personnel on-site shall include a <br />review of the underground utility locations and the location of the site map, <br />showing the position of any underground utility lines.
