7.0 DECONTAMINATION <br />The following decontamination (cleansing/ disposal) procedures for equipment <br />and PPE have been developed with the intent of reducing the potential for the <br />transfer of impacted soil from the Exclusion Zone. Decontamination shall be <br />performed in direct proximity to the Exclusion Zone or in accordance with the <br />Work Zones described in Section 5.3 <br />7.1 EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION <br />Remove all spilled/renegade soil from tools and heavy equipment with a course <br />brush or scraping tool directly over a sheet of polyethylene, consolidate, and <br />dispose with other soil designated for proper disposal. <br />7.2 PPE DECONTAMINATION <br />Decontamination of PPE, if applicable, would be accomplished by passing <br />personnel through various stages of contamination reduction using a brush to <br />remove loose soil/ dust and removing impacted clothing and/or equipment <br />in decreasing order of the degree of potential impact. Personnel who have <br />come in contact with soil in the Exclusion Zone will be subjected to these <br />procedures. The personnel decontamination may be comprised of the <br />following procedural stages. <br />• Stage No. 1: Segregated Equipment Drop <br />Equipment and consumables that require either disposal or special <br />handling (e.g., special washing/decontamination) shall remain in this <br />area until decontaminated or disposed. <br />• Stage No. 2: Protecti <br />ve Clothing Removal <br />Decontaminate by dry wipe or brush over plastic and/or remove all <br />but inner gloves and respirator and dispose of, or store accordingly. <br />• Stage No. 3: Respirator Removal <br />Remove respirator, decontaminate and dispose of cartridges, daily. <br />• Stage No. 4: General Field Wash <br />Personnel shall remove inner gloves and wash face and hands with <br />hand soap and tap water and rinsing with tap water before leaving the <br />site and/or eating.
