February 2018
AGE-NC Project No. 17-4256
Page of 8
4.0. HAZARD EVALUATION
The following substance(s) or hazards are known or suspected to be on site.
SUBSTANCES INVOLVED: CONCENTRATIONS:
Gasoline N/A
Diesel N/A
Benzene N/A
Toluene N/A
Ethylbenzene N/A
Xylenes N/A
Methyl tertiary Butyl Ether N/A
The primary hazards of each are identified as follows:
1. Hydrocarbon fuels - Components of fuels are colorless liquids with strong aromatic
petroleum hydrocarbon-like odors. They are flammable and have low solubility in
water. Exposure to these materials in excess of recommended exposure limits can
cause mild eye, nose, and throat irritation and can produce a narcotic effect on the
central nervous system. Symptoms of exposure at these concentrations include
headache, nausea, drowsiness, dizziness, and loss of coordination. Certain
components of gasoline (BTE&X etc.) are known or suspected carcinogens.
The following additional hazards are expected on site: typical work related to facility.
Noise, falling rods, flying hammer, snapped cables, etc. on the backhoe/excavator (if
applicable).
5.0. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Based on evaluation of potential hazards, the following levels of personal protection have
been designated for the applicable work areas or task:
Advanced GeoEnvironnicntal, Inc.
