25 October 2016
AGE Project No. 11-1847
specified by the manufacture (i.e. 30 minutes), prior to grouting. The remaining annular
space will be filled to within one foot of the ground surface with a cement grout. The grout
mixture will consist of Type I/II portland neat cement and not more than 3 gallons of water
per 50-pound sack of cement. The grout will be placed by pouring or pumping through a
tremie pipe or auger. A grouting inspection will be scheduled with EHD personnel prior to
any application of grout.
Following completion of the monitoring wells, each well location will be surveyed at the
top of each well casing by a California-licensed surveyor relative to a City of Stockton
benchmark and the North American Vertical Datum 88.
3.3. WELL DEVELOPMENT
Development of the proposed wells will consist of a combination of bailing with a stainless
steel bailer to remove the major portion of fine-grained sediment from inside the well,
surging to flush out or draw in sediment from the filter pack, and additional groundwater
evacuation with a Waterra inertia pump to finish the removal of fine-grained sediment.
Developmental purging activities will be continued until field parameters (pH, electrical
conductivity, and temperature) have stabilized and purged water is visually sediment-free.
3.4. GROUNDWATER SAMPLING PROCEDURES
Groundwater sample collection will be performed in accordance with AGE's standard
monitoring and sampling procedures, which have been included as Appendix B.
3.5. ON-SITE SOIL BORING ADVANCEMENT AND SAMPLING
Soil boring B-10 will be advanced on-site to maximum depths of 65 feet bsg; soil boring
B-11 will be advanced on-site to a maximum depth of 20 feet bsg; soil borings B-12 and
B-13 will be advanced on-site to maximum depths of 5 feet bsg, all using a van-mounted
Geoprobee 5400 equipped with 1.25-inch probing rods. The probe rig will advance soil
borings using a hydraulic hammer to drive sampling tools to specified depths.
Beginning at a depth of 5 feet bsg, soil samples will be collected from all four probe
borings at 5-foot intervals using a 1.45-inch diameter Geoprobe soil sampling assembly
preloaded with one two-foot long acetate sleeve. After sample collection, a portion of the
acetate sleeve will be separated, and the ends preserved by covering with Teflon sheets,
rubber end caps and sealing with duct tape.
Soil samples will be visually classified by an AGE geologist in accordance with the Unified
Soil Classification System (USCS). Additionally, soil samples will be field screened for the
presence of volatile organic compounds using an organic vapor meter (OVM), equipped
Advanced GeoEnvironmental Inc.
