Site History and Previous Investigations
Former Chevron Service Station No. 94054
installed next to each other in the eastbound lane of Elmwood Avenue, across from monitoring
well MW-12 which is installed in the westbound lane of Elmwood Avenue (ARCADIS, 2009). The
greatest concentration of petroleum hydrocarbon constituents detected in the soil samples
collected during the associated monitoring well installations was in the soil sample collected
from MW-4D at 20 feet bgs. TPH-GRO was detected at a concentration of 1,700 mg/kg in the soil
sample collected from MW-4D at 20 feet bgs.
In July 2010, ARCADIS supervised the installation of two groundwater monitoring wells
(MW-13B and MW-14B). MW-13B was installed in the westbound lane of Elmwood Avenue, west
of Franklin Avenue. MW-14B was installed in the westbound lane of Elmwood Avenue, east of
Franklin Avenue. One soil sample collected from boring MW-13B at 50 feet bgs contained
benzene at a concentration of 0.23 mg/kg, which is above the ESL of 0.044 mg/kg; however, no
additional analytes were detected above ESL's. Soil samples collected from
MW-14B did not contain concentrations above respective ESL's for any of the requested
analytes. The groundwater analytical data collected from MW-13B may aid in distinguishing the
petroleum hydrocarbons originating from Boulevard Auto versus the petroleum hydrocarbons
originating from former Chevron Service Station 94054.
Stantec
9
