River Rd, Ripon
APN 245-220-28, 29, 30, SR0082378
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed the Soil Suitability/Nitrate
Loading (SSNL) Study, dated July 24, 2020 and submitted on July 27, 2020 for the above noted location, and
has the following comments for your consideration.
The SSNL was prepared to determine the suitability of the above noted parcel for onsite wastewater treatment
system (OVVTS) usage and the potential long-term impact of nitrate to groundwater for the proposed project
development. The proposed development project includes:
A 6,160 square foot production building.
The OVVTS usage wastewater average of 770 gallons a day from existing office building, existing
warehouses and the proposed production building. The OVVTS wastewater of 770 gallons a day is not
to be used for septic design or size calculation.
Based on the information provided, the EHD can make the following findings:
Based on the information provided, the EHD finds that the SSNL Study supports the suitability for
standard OVVTS usage for future development on the proposed parcels, pursuant to San Joaquin
County Ordinance Code Title 9, Section 9-1105.2(d), provided the existing and proposed OVVTS and
100% replacement areas can meet all required minimum setbacks from any water wells.
SSNL study is an analysis to determine the suitability of the soil for septic system and its potential
long-term impact of nitrates to groundwater. The proposed septic design stated in the SSNL study is
not approved. The septic design shall be submitted to Environmental Health Department separately
for review and approval. The septic sizing and calculation shall conform to OVVTS Section 6.
The water sample data show the well being utilized for drinking water has an elevated level of nitrate
nitrogen of 24.7 mg/L and may not be a suitable source for the potable water supply for new
development. A potable water supply that can provide a consistent source of safe and clean water
adequate for human consumption, cooking, and sanitary purposes for the proposed project prior to
the issuance of building permits (2016 CA Plumbing Code, Section 601.2).
1868 E.
