All violations must be corrected within specified timeframe. Violations that are classified as "MAJOR" pose an immediate threat to public health and must be corrected immediately or be subject to closure pursuant to California Code of Regulations (Title 22) section 65545. #24 VGB Suction Covers OBSERVATIONS: Suction covers must meet current laws. CALCODE DESCRIPTION: All suction outlets shall be equipped with suction covers that meet the applicable ANSI/APSP-16 performance standards. (CBC 31378) #39 Wastewater Disposal OBSERVATIONS: The back wash pipe drains into a 4 inch sewer line. Make sure it meets as described below. CAL CODE DESCRIPTION: Backwash from sand filters shall discharge indirectly into a sump with sufficient capacity to receive wastewater without overflowing. Backwash from diatomaceous earth filters shall discharge into a separation tank designed to collect the diatomaceous earth mixture. Wastewater from the separation tank shall discharge into the sanitary sewer. A visible sight indicator shall be installed on the backwash line when discharge is not visible to the pool operator. Pool recirculation system shall not be directly connected to the sanitary sewer system. (CBC 31418) Cartridge filters shall be cleaned in an approved wash down area equipped with potable water supply. Wash down area shall discharge through permanently installed plumbing into the sanitary sewer. (CBC 31328) OVERALL INSPECTION NOTES AND COMMENTS NOTES Ladder treads and recessed steps shall have a minimum tread of 5 inches (127 mm) and a width of 14 inches (356 mm) and shall be designed to be readily cleaned. Step risers shall be uniform and shall not exceed 12 inches (305 mm) in height. The first riser shall be measured from the deck. The enclosure shall be designed and constructed so that it cannot be readily climbed by small children. No planters or other structures that can be climbed shall be permitted within 5 feet (1524 mm) of the outside of the pool enclosure or within a 5 foot (1524 mm) arc as depicted in Figure 316-5. The area 5 feet (1524 mm) outside of the pool enclosure shall be a common area open to the public. The overhang for either bull-nosed coping or cantilevered decking shall not exceed 2 inches (51 mm) or be less than 1 inch (25 mm) and shall not exceed 2 1/2 inches (64 mm) in thickness.4. Stair top step tread must be 21 inches to 24 inches. Middle and bottom step tread must be 12 inches to 16 inches. Risers must be 6 inches to 12 inches and must be uniform. The suction outlets shall be hydraulically balanced and symmetrically plumbed through one or more "T' fittings and shall be separated 3 feet between the suction outlets. Pipes shall be sized so flow velocity of piping systems including all pipes and fittings other than inlet devices or venturi throats shall not exceed 6 feet per second (1.829 m/s) in any suction or copper piping and 8 feet per second (2.438 m/s) in any portion of the return system. The current pump will exceed the velocities on the 2 inch pipe. The sump for backwashing the filter must be sized to meet the flow. This department must verify these corrections prior to plaster.
