Complaint Investigation Summary Report#:5105
COMPLAINT ID: C00053754 Site Location: 5701 PROMONTORY PKWY
Received by: EE0009830 SAUERS Received Date: 5/3/2021 Complaint Received Via: PHONE
Assigned To. EE0009818 BAKER Assigned Date: 5/3/2021
Program/Element Code 2546-Release/Spill Response(excluding Joint Team)
Nature of complaint:
HALF A GALLON TO A GALLON OF DIESEL FUEL LEAKING OUT OF GASKET,SPILL CONTAINED
PROPERTY INFORMATION
Property Name:
Site Location 5701 PROMONTORY PKWY District 005-ELLIOTT,BOB
TRACY,CA 95377 Location Code 03-TRACY
Cross Street HANSEN APN 20922013
----------------------------------
Complaint Status: 0— ` S (r
Date Abated: Abated By:
-------------------------------------------------
Activity Summary
Activity Date Recorded by
05/03/2021 Received page from front counter. A 1/2-1 gallon release of diesel from a gasket BAKER
was reported at 5701 Promontory Pkwy. in Tracy. Called Kelly Durrer at
209-305-0171. She said that the interstitial space of diesel tank for the generator
was accidentally filled instead of the primary tank by the delivery company. The
gasket began to leak at one drop per 30 seconds because it is not designed to
hold fluid, per manufacturer. No waterways or storm drains were impacted. Spill
is currently contained with absorbent below the leak and the pipe is wrapped with
an absorbent rag to stop leak. Fuel company will be on site on 5/4/21 to pump out
the diesel in the secondary containment. Diesel contaminated absorbent waste
will be disposed of as hazardous waste with facility's regular hazardous waste
disposal.
05/03/2021 Continuation from day time. Discussed complaint with Elena Manzo (Lead Sr. BAKER
REHS). Called Kelly Durrer back for a few additional questions. Kelly Durrer said
that if the entire tank (2900 gallons) ruptured spill would most likely not reach the
storm drain. Release would have to go over a curb to reach storm drain.
Maintenance staff will be periodically checking on leak throughout the night to
change the absorbent and make sure release is not larger. Boom will be placed
around storm drain.
Wrote Notice to Abate and emailed it to Kelly Durrer at kdurrer@medline.com
5pm-5:42pm
05/04/2021 Received update from Kelly Durrer that the manager of the delivery company will BAKER
be on site from 11 am-12pm to see the generator and then a truck will come after
to pump out the diesel.
Filled out complaint information and prop 65 information. Verified GIS in EC.
Called Kelly Durrer at 209-305-0171 for an update on the clean-up and left a
message.
Kelly Durrer called back and said they had Bay City Electric out for another
unrelated reason and they were able to pump out the diesel in the interstitial space
to a level below where the leak is. Diesel was put into the primary tank.
Contractor will be coming out tomorrow(5/5/21)to pump out the rest of the diesel.
5105.rpt Page 1 of 2
