Ross Robert Truck Repair Used Oil Tank
Interim Assessment and Conditional Certification
September 14, 2021
Optional:
• The tank coating is worn off on in large areas of the tank top and sides and is not good condition.
Spot painting uncoated areas will reduce corrosion on the tank.
• The tank should have overfill protection, such as a tank level gauge that can be referenced by
someone filling the tank.
• General housekeeping should be improved by removing any rags from the tank top and cleaning
up absorbents on the floor.
The estimated remaining service life of this tank system could be 5 to 10 plus years. The next Title 22
certification for this tank is due in five years, July 20, 2026.
Based on the integrity testing results, reported in Section 6.0 of this report, the tank has sufficient
integrity for its intended use once the following is corrected: venting, the tank is anchored and has a
NFPA sticker and Hazardous Waste Accumulation sticker added to the tank. This Interim Report will
be updated and stamped at that time.
The tank system has been inspected for the presence of any of the following items:
(1)weld breaks;
(2)punctures;
(3) scrapes of protective coatings;
(4) cracks;
(5) corrosion;
(6) other structural damage or inadequate construction or installation.
The tank was found to have none of the following: Weld breaks, punctures, cracks or other structural
damage. Scrapes and removal of portions of the protective coating do not appear to affect the integrity
of the tank.
8.0 References
• CCR Title 22
• Steel Tank Institute, Standard for the Inspection of Aboveground
Storage Tanks SP-001
• NFPA 30
• Standard Hand Book for Mechanical Engineers
• International Building Code
8
