REHS
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed the Soil Suitability/Nitrate
Loading (SSNL) Study, dated June 3, 2021 for the above noted location, and has the following comments for
your consideration.
The SSNL was prepared to determine the suitability of the above noted parcel for onsite wastewater treatment
system (OWTS) usage and the potential long-term impact of nitrate to groundwater for the following proposed
two-bedroom second unit dwelling.
Based on the information provided EHD can make the following findings:
a. According to the SSNL, the estimated nitrate loading from existing and proposed OWTS usage is 13.11
mg/L as nitrate -nitrogen and the maximum contaminant level of 10 mg/L-N. EHD will require an
oversized 1,600 -gallon septic tank for installation of a standard Onsite Wastewater Treatment System.
b. The OWTS and its 100% replacement areas shall meet all required minimum setbacks stated in San
Joaquin County (OWTS) Standard and Well Standard.
If you have any questions please contact Daria Afonskaia, Registered Environmental Health Specialist, at
dafonskaia@sjgov.org or (209) 616-3035.
Steven Shih, REHS
Program Coordinator
c: Advanced Geo, Inc.
1868 E.
