WINTERIZATION PAD AND ACCESS ROAD In preparation of winter disposal activities, a winterization pad and roadway have been constructed to provide easy access and minimize unloading operations. The winter pad and access ramp are shown on Figure 1 . The dimensions of the pad are 200 x 200 feet, which provides sufficient maneuverability for vehicle travel and unloading operations. The access ramp and winter pad were constructed of six inches of compacted aggregate base rock over a two foot foundation of compacted soil . The access ramp is approximately thirty feet in width with a grade of five percent. III. DRAINAGE Surface drainage throughout the winter months will generally flow to the southwest as indicated by arrows shown on Figure 1 . Surface drainage will be pumped into a retention basin located south of Module 3 as shown on Figure 1 . Any water that enters the leachate collection system will be treated as leachate. Leachate is pumped out of the module sumps and filtered through the site's leachate filtering system, which is also shown on Figure 1 . IV. BORROW STOCKPILE It is estimated that approximately 28,000 cubic yards of cover material will be needed during winter operations for the four month period spanning December to March. This material is already stockpiled as shown on Figure 1 . Additional soil may be excavated if necessary from the next module located south of Module 3 . V. SUMMARY This Winterization Plan is designed to provide for four and one- half months of seasonal operations through the winter beginning December 1995 and ending in March of 1996. In addition, adequate drainage, refuse space, and cover material are provided to ensure limited maintenance and normal operation of the landfill .
