Full groundwater monitoring continues on a semi-
annual basis (first and third quarters) in accordance with our Waste Discharge
Requirements. Supplemental VOC analysis of groundwater also continues on a semi-
annual basis (second and fourth quarters) in accordance with the revised Report of
Waste Discharge.
We are pleased to report that inorganic analyses show no exceedence of the
concentration limits, and that no VOCs are present in the groundwater. Also, with the
exception of false positives and similar sporadically reported compounds from lab or
other contamination, VOC impact has not been indicated at well G-4 (the "impacted" well)
since January 2003, and VOC impact has not been indicated at any other well at any
time.
VOCs, usually in low concentrations, were found in all soil gas wells. The continuing
presence of VOCs in the soil gas wells and the continuing absence of impact by VOCs to
groundwater at any well since January 2003 seem to indicate that the presence of VOCs
at these concentrations does not threaten the groundwater at this landfill.
Most of the landfill slopes had either established vegetation or anti -erosion mesh in place
in preparation for winter, and were not significantly impacted by the intense short -duration
storms of late December. Some newly -constructed slopes on the interior of the landfill
were eroded. Interim repairs were applied (photos attached). Permanent repairs will be
implemented as surface conditions allow.
