EMPLOYEE TRAINING <br /> Is the goal of Tracy Material Recovery Facility and Solid Waste Transfer, In., to provide hazard <br /> communication training during the first 90 days of employment and whenever a new chemical is <br /> introduced to a given work area. Training will be conducted by the program coordinator or <br /> another who has been properly trained. <br /> The training program will consist of. <br /> I. How the hazard communication program is implemented, how to read and <br /> interpret information on labels and MSDS and how employees can obtain and use <br /> available hazard information. <br /> 2. The hazards of the chemicals in the work area. <br /> 3. Measures employees can take to protect themselves from the hazards. <br /> 4. Specific procedures put into effect by the company to provide protection, such as <br /> personal protective equipment. <br /> 5. Methods and observations, such as visual appearance or smell, workers can use to <br /> detect presence of a hazardous chemical they may be exposed to. <br /> RIGHT-TO KNOW TRAINING PROGRAM <br /> 1. Introduce the Right-To-Know coordinator and explain his role. <br /> 2. Review the company's written Hazcom Program and explain how to obtain and <br /> use the document. <br /> 3. Explain applicable safety and health requirements mandated by OSHA and State <br /> standards. <br /> 4. Identify locations where hazardous chemicals are stored,handled, dispensed or <br /> transported, and the location of each process and operation that uses them. <br /> 5. Explain how to recognize potential health and safety hazards and review <br /> monitoring techniques used to detect potential health hazards. <br /> 6. Explain how to read MSDS and related information (labels). <br /> 7. Explain safety precautions to be taken by the individual worker. <br /> 8. Explain in detail the labeling system used by the company. <br /> 9. Use audiovisuals to teach basic Hazcom information to the general plant <br /> population. <br /> 10. Warn about specific work activities that increase the likelihood of a loss. <br /> 17 <br />
